Massachusetts Broadcasters Association "Guard for a Day" event
with the Massachusetts Army National Guard
On June 15, the MA Army National Guard will host broadcasters from throughout the state to get a taste of what National Guard training is like. Join the MBA for this unique event and put your physical and mental abilities to the test!
Take part in these activities like a Massachusetts Army National Guard soldier:
LEADERSHIP REACTION COURSE
The Leadership Reaction Course (LRC) is an exact replica of the experience new Army Soldiers receive at Basic Combat Training. It consists of 15 hands-on challenges which focus on critical thinking, mental and physical strength, and most importantly, leadership.
CONFIDENCE COURSE
The Confidence Course, also known as the obstacle course, consists of over twenty physical challenges meant to show participants the things they can achieve through self belief and teamwork. Several elements include heights and leaps of faith to achieve success as a group.
ENGAGEMENT SKILLS TRAINER
The Engagement Skills Trainer is a wall-sized simulation which allows groups of Soldiers to conduct marksmanship and scenario-based training in a controlled environment. Participants may have the opportunity to test their skills using a variety of Army pistols, rifles, and machine guns.
HARD WORK MAKES YOU HUNGRY
With all of that hard work, you'll be ready to eat. The Guard will supply Meals Ready to Eat (MREs) for lunch to give you a sense of how deployed soldiers keep up their energy
AN OPPORTUNITY TO TELL A STORY
While there is no obligation to attend this event, we ask that you consider sharing your experiences with your viewers or listeners. Send a camera crew, your morning show, or the sales guy you just want to see sweat a little bit. It'll be a lot of fun and surely an eye opening experience!
